Imperial CollegeImperial College is the central official college after Sui Dynasty. It is the highest institution of higher learning in ancient China. Beijing Imperial College was started to be built in 1306 in Yuan dynasty. It is the highest administrative organization and highest learning institution in Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Beijing Imperial College is located in No.15 Guozijian Street Andingmennei Dongcheng District, Beijing. It is near the Confucius Temple and Lama Temple. History of the Beijing Drum Tower

Beijing Drum TowerBeijing Drum Tower is in north of Dianmenwai Street on the axle wire. In ancient time it is the time inquiry service in the city.

The Drum Tower in Yuan dynasty is located in the center of Dadu and named Qiqizheng which signifies sun, moon, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars and Saturn. It is on west of the Ming and Qing dynasty Drum Tower the south corner of the old Gulou Street. In Yongle eighteenth year, the Drum Tower was rebuilt.

As the North visit record says, in 1654 the tower was damaged in fire disaster and rebuilt in Qianlong period. In 1800 Jiaqing period, the tower was repaired. In 1900, the Eight-Power Allied Forces invaded Beijing and the relics in Drum Tower were destroyed, but the architecture was not been damaged. During the Republic of China, the Drum Tower was opened for the tourists and the Drum Tower was changed into Mingchi Tower. The second year its name changed into Qizheng Tower.

In 1957, the Tower was listed as city grade protect unit and it was repaired in 1984. The Drum Tower was opened in 1987 for the tourists. The architecture relics are well protected. In 1996, it was listed as the nation grade protect unit.

Drum Tower Xian

Drum Tower XianThe Drum Tower Xian is located on north of West Street. The Drum Tower Xian was built in 1350 Ming dynasty. There hangs a huge drum, so it gets its name. The Drum Tower Xian was not destroyed even in the earthquake. Before the revolution, the Drum Tower Xian was not repaired long time. After the revolution, the government repaired it many times. The Drum Tower Xian became new and the symbol building in Xian.

Tourists in Xian tour can visit the Drum Tower Xian in any season. There is lantern show in Lantern Festival every year in January 15th in Chinese lunar month. It is the best time to visit Drum Tower Xian.

Tiananmen Tower

Tiananmen TowerTiananmen Tower is situated in the center of the capital Beijing and it is the most magnificent tower in ancient China. Its outstanding building art and special politic position fix people’s eyes on it. In October 1st 1949 the Chairman Mao Zedong declared that the People’s Republic of China is founded and the people are standing up. He raised the first five star red flag.

Tiananmen is the main entrance in Ming and Qing dynasty. It was built in 1417 and its original name is Chengtianmen. It means receive the god’s order and undertake the fate. In 1651 Shunzhi eighth year its name changed into Tiananmen.

The Tiananmen is consisted of tower platform and gate tower. It is 34.7 meters high and there are 60 huge pillars in the tower. The floor is paved by gold brick. There is water caltrop lattice gate in each side of north and south. On the gate arch, square-column and Tianhua there are golden dragon colorful decoration and lucky patterns. The 450 kilograms weight Palace lantern and 16 assist lantern weighing 350 kilograms are shining bright light. Under the tower platform there is Quanmen and five small gates. The Quemen is the largest and only the emperor can go there.

After the new China, the Tiananmen are rebuilt four times. It is a wishful place for people.

The Drum Tower Beijing is in the Qianmen Street. And the Drum Tower Beijing is not far away from the Tiananmen Tower. In ancient time, the Drum Tower Beijing was built by wood and to present the Drum Tower Beijing was on fire it built by stone. The Drum Tower Beijing is also an important and famous ancient building.
